It's tempting to want to use our bodies as currency,
after so many years of this truth for so many.
When it seems to be the only currency we have.
We buy lies of upgrades, remodels, investments.
Desire to present ourselves as a commodity, sold to the highest bidder.
As an object, for eyes to consume, minds to wander freely.
The streamlined process of social media,
selling us products, people, templates,
to construct ourselves into.
Authentic blueprints modified.
Originals become reproductions.
Unique turned streamlined.
We're led further down this path every time
we mindlessly wander
into someone else's digital domain.
We slowly turn into someone we no longer recognize.
Influenced into something for which we never registered.
Imposter syndrome at its finest.
The only way through is to retrace our steps.
Follow the breadcrumbs of our past to emerge
once again
as ourselves.
